Nie wiemy także czy film będzie emitowany w kinach czy też w tv. Wracając do głównego tematu wypowiedź chłopców pochodzi z grudnia ubiegłego roku. Powiedzieli oni wtedy, że album jest gotowy w 75 procentach i zostanie wydany "latem lub w trzecim lub w czwartym kwartale". Według mnie chłopcy trochę długo każą na siebie czekać. Ale cóż mamy robić? Poczekamy :)

Reżyser Stephen Kijak przygotowuje długometrażowy film dokumentalny o prawdopodobnie jednym z największych boybandów wszechczasów, Backstreet Boys. Film będzie opowiadał o drodze jaką przeszli od dziecięcych gwiazd do boysbandu tworzącego hity skali globalnej.

Wyprodukowany przez Mia Bays i Thomas Benski i głównego producenta Lucaas Ochoa, muzyczny dokument zapowiadany jako film mówiący o wszystkim o wszystkich pierwotnych pięciu członkach zespołu i ma być on ukończony do jesieni 2013 roku.

Kijak powiedział: "To wspaniała okazja, by zrobić film jakiego by nikt nie oczekiwał od Backstreet Boys.To co przyciągnęło mnie do tego projektu to ich [Backstreet Boys] otwartość i chęć do pchania siebie w niewygodne miejsca, by być wrażliwym i uczciwym, i to że bardzo ufają zespołowi filmowemu i kierują ich we właściwym kierunku."

Obiecał, że film nie będzie tylko jakimś "boysbandowskim filmikiem 3D" dodając, że "BSB są coraz prawdziwsi i to było ekscytujące, pracować z nimi, gdy odkrywali swoją przeszłość i zaczynali patrzeć w swoją przyszłość."

Kijak określił się jako ich fan "jako ludzi przede wszystkim" zauważając, że dla niego głównym tematem filmu jest ludzka historia o kulisach muzyki i sukcesu.

THR donosi, że "Backstreet Boys - The Movie" ma być w wersji kinowej.

Director Stephen Kijak is prepping a movie-length documentary for theatrical release on arguably one of the biggest boybands of all time, the Backstreet Boys. Movie will be about the group's journey from child stars to global hitmaking boy band.

Produced by Mia Bays and Thomas Benski and exec produced by Lucas Ochoa, the music documentary is billed as a tell-all project about all five original members of the band and aims to be finished by the fall of 2013.

Kijak said: "This is an incredible opportunity to make a film no one would expect the Backstreet Boys to make. What drew me to this project is their [Backstreet Boys] openness and willingness to push themselves into uncomfortable places, to be vulnerable and honest and to be really trusting of the filmmaking team to steer them in the right direction."

He promised the film wouldn't just be some "3-D Boy Band puff piece," adding that "BSB is getting real and it has been exciting to work with them as they explore their past and start to look towards their futures."

Kijak described himself as a fan of them "as people first and foremost" noting that his way into the subject matter was the human story behind the music and success.

THR reports that "Backstreet Boys - The Movie" is set for a theatrical release.
